Sivakumar educational trust awards given to Students

The Sivakumar educational and charitable trust started by actor Sivakumar in 1979, held its 31st function to give educational aid to students.

"Six years ago, Suriya’s Agaram foundation joined hands with this trust and is continuing the work to help first generation literates. This year 55 students are being helped along with five blind students and some students from Sri Lankan refugee camps in the state ", said Sivakumar.

The highlight was the release of the English version of his autobiography titled Idhu Oru Rajapattai Alle by noted journalist Malathi Rangarajan. "I hope students can take me as a role model and inspiration since I too have suffered and struggled to get education. I hope this book will reach out to many non Tamil readers as well and that is the reason for this translation " said Sivakumar.

The book was released by Principal Ilamparai Marimaran from Tuticorin. Speaking on the occasion actor Suriya said "these kids are the real heroes while we are heroes after coming to films. They have risen and come so far with their hard work and will to succeed. Karthi and I will do more films and earn more so that we can help them in a bigger way for more deserving students. "

Many students went emotional and narrated their tales of overcoming odds in order to study bringing tears to everyone on stage and in the audience. The Agaram foundation made several donations to organisations from various parts of the state.
